At Riga Food 2025, at the “Novada Garšas” stand, Lapsu Mājas cheese will present cow’s milk cheeses in 27 different flavors (awarded the Green Spoon), lactose-free cheeses in 27 different flavors (the first lactose-free homemade cheese from cow’s milk in Latvia), and the traditional Latvian cheese “Jāņu siers”, which is included in the EU Register of Traditional Specialities Guaranteed.
Visitors to Riga Food 2025 will also have the opportunity to participate in a Jāņu siers cheese-making masterclass, where they can taste warm whey and freshly made warm Jāņu cheese.
Lapsu Mājas cheese is a homemade unripened cheese with reduced salt content, made from cow’s milk, sour cream, and eggs. Currently, Lapsu Mājas cheese is available in 27 different flavors. Alongside traditional cheese flavors (such as caraway, garlic, and plain), the assortment also includes unique varieties that reflect the distinctive character of Lapsu Mājas cheese – for example, with dried porcini mushrooms, green olives, mustard seeds, chia seeds, pickled gherkins, sweet gingerbread, and pine cones.
The cheese-making process is entirely handcrafted – 101% handmade – from the preparation of the cheese mass to packaging. Each cheese wheel is individually made, and with it comes real, heartfelt emotion that reflects the flavor: good thoughts, kind wishes, laughter, and love.
The uniqueness of Lapsu Mājas cheese also lies in being the first lactose-free cheese produced in Latvia, offered in the same 27 flavors. Lapsu Mājas cheeses are recognized as high-quality products and have been awarded the Green Spoon label.
A new achievement – Lapsu Mājas is now one of only nine producers in Latvia of authentic “Jāņu siers”. This cheese, under the name “Jāņu siers”, is officially registered in the European Union’s Register of Traditional Specialities Guaranteed (TSG).
Producer: Jānis Lapsa, Reg. No. 14028911007, Food and Veterinary Service Reg. No. 083650.
The cheesemaker is Jānis Lapsa, which is why the brand is named Lapsu Mājas cheese.
The origins of Lapsu Mājas cheese date back to 2013. Since 2020, the production site has been located in Ogre, on the picturesque banks of the Ogre River.
