From concise minimalism to breathtaking technologies: Riga Furniture & Interior brings the current design trends to the fore
Riga Furniture & Interior 2026, the international furniture and interior design trade fair, will take place in Ķīpsala on 16–18 October, bringing visitors variety of furniture, finishing materials, lighting, design items and other technical solutions. This year’s fair will showcase a diversity of interior design trends, such as natural material textures, environments that increase well-being, smart technologies, ergonomic solutions and growing demand for interior items that highlight owner’s personality instead of pre-designed solutions available from interior magazines.
“Looking at the solutions offered by this year’s exhibitors, we can see that interior design is becoming increasingly personalised, centred around a person and their well-being in personal space. Demand for natural materials, warmer colours, solutions that increase well-being and customisation is growing. Meanwhile, technologies are much deeper integrated into the interior to make them more subtle. So, if you are interested to see these trends yourself, you simply have to be in Ķīpsala,” Edgars Skara, Project Manager of Riga Furniture & Interior, urges.
Stone, wood and other soothing materials
Natural interior elements have not lost their relevance. The appreciation for the texture of materials, natural imperfections and surfaces, which give room its peculiar character, is still strong. Stone, wood and textiles are used to create a warmer, more authentic and custom ambience. Current trends will be presented by companies like Kivisepad, Ulle and INTAR-SIJA who offer stone and timber options for various types of interiors, whereas Ilme Rätsep Disain textiles are meant to transform the fabric into artistic highlight of the interior. Diverse finishing materials will also offered by Metroks, Kourasanit and WPBaltic, whose stands will contain more than 50 bamboo wall panel variations.
Bathroom is no longer only a room with specific function
Bathrooms nowadays are increasingly becoming a well-being space that plays both a special function and is also a space with specific mood. 2026 design trends are dominated by natural materials, warmer colours, bold textures, balanced lighting and technologies that serve the needs of people. LAUFEN and ROCA will bring to the trade fair modern bathroom designs and technologies. Whereas “Vides tehnika” and KORTE.design will showcase tiling and surface finishing options, and also custom room layout alternatives.
From lighting to digital displays
Lighting and smart digital solutions are gradually becoming an integral part of the interior. They are no longer a practical gadget, but have also become the means for creating a pleasant atmosphere, while also making room more comfortable and functional.
Trade fair will showcase modern, interactive lighting solutions from Lemona, and modern LED technologies from Ledvance. InoLock is the exhibitor that will introduce audiences to smart lock systems for doors, whereas Hikvision Roadshow Bus will bring LED screens, professional displays and digital communication systems to demonstrate how technologies may strongly add to functional characteristics and visual qualities of the interior.
Home and work environments become more suitable to human needs
Ergonomics are also becoming a crucial element of good interior, especially at the time when the same room is often used both for work and relaxation. When it comes to work environment, there is an increasing emphasis on need to change body positions and furniture that can be adjusted to individual preferences – solutions that will be showcased by LinERGO, Salons AIS and BIOSWING at their stands.
As far as home interior is concerned, furniture there must also be both visually appealing and also fit for particular lifestyle. Dizainakresli.lv will, therefore, offer bent lamination furniture made in Latvia. Urban Living will display the new collection from Innovation Living, and CozyPad will provide diverse range of modular furniture. And THE BED will highlight the design, handcraft and individual comfort of locally made furniture.
Interior is becoming more individualistic
Today’s interior is much more driven by art, vintage items and things that carry personal significance, narrative. Cookie-cutter and easily replicable designs, in turn, are fading away. Interior is swiftly becoming a reflection of one’s personality and individual style. This trendy will be strongly manifested in Artists Runway pop-up art gallery’s display. Riga Furniture & Interior 2026 will have astounding 400 square metres of exhibition space with 200 works of art created by 50 Latvian artists. NFC technology is this year’s novelty: by bringing smart phone closer to art piece visitors will get instant information about the artwork and its author.
Comfort beyond four walls
Comfort of home does not end at the terrace door anymore. Outdoors are also increasingly becoming a full-fledged extension of the living environment: nice furniture, lighting, interior items. HIGOLD premium-grade outdoor furniture will be presented at the fair by Premium Outdoor, while Kivisepad and Ulle will bring forth natural stone elements that will fit into both indoor and outdoor spaces. Whereas AM studio will display unique glass products.
