LEADING TRADE FAIR ORGANISER IN THE BALTIC STATES

Your journey to Sardinia can start at Balttour 2023!

This year, Balttour’s guests will get a special surprise in the form of the Mediterranean’s scintillating beauty — Sardinia — enjoy a touch of the Italian mood, and plan the island as the destination for their next journey. Very soon, on 3–5 February, you will meet real Sardinians and our own Roberto Meloni in Ķīpsala!

Although Roberto Meloni has lived in Latvia for many years, his homeland is still that, which means if Sardinians come to Latvia to talk about Sardinia, he will definitely be there as well.

‘Many think that Sardinia is only about the sea, sunbathing, and the beach. But actually, Sardinia is much more than just the sea. There are so many ways for you to have fun, do sports, and enjoy your life in general. Sardinia also has forests, mountains, rocks, lakes, and rivers. The mountains are very popular among those preferring more active recreation: Latvian mountain climber Kristaps Liepiņš regularly goes there. Sardinia’s flora and nature in general are amazingly beautiful. There are also a few famous rose gardens! Active travellers will enjoy diving, surfing, and other aquatic sports!’ said Roberto, offering a few initial thoughts about Sardinia.

He said that life in Sardinia protects you from depression and guarantees happiness and joy. This is not just an advertising slogan, but a scientific opinion based on studies of long-lived people in Sardinia. There is a reason it is called the land of centenarians!

Roberto Meloni also stressed that you have to try local food in Sardinia. It’s very special because of Phoenicians, Italians, and Spaniards bringing their flavours to Sardinian cuisine. ‘Sardinian bread making is packed full of tradition! And in general, Sardinia is paradise on earth! People have the longest lifespans there. As soon as you get off the plane, you will meet the aromas and flavours of Sardinia, bringing joy to your soul and your taste buds. So come to the island! A nos bidere sanos! (See you soon!),’ Meloni offered his invitation.

Sardinians take pride
The island of Sardinia boasts almost two thousand kilometres of coastline, rich with fabulous beaches, crystal-clear sea water, and awe-inspiring cliffs. Picturesque mountain landscapes, lakes, rivers, and waterfalls await travellers on the central part of the island. Those who love history and cultural heritage will find many interesting items left by ancient civilisations that can be traced back as far as the Bronze Age.

Sardinians have fun
In Sardinia, the sun shines more than 300 days a year, meaning you will get a pleasant holiday no matter when you go there. You can draw strength from the island’s hot springs and spa centres: they offer thalassotherapy and wellness services using sea water, sea plants, oils, and essences.

The diverse and healthy Mediterranean cuisine, which thanks to the minimal influence of the outside world on Sardinia, boasts centuries of traditions, is another source of joy. Sardinia is famous for its artichokes, saffron, Mediterranean bottarga (cured tuna roe), and excellent wines.

Sardinians invite you to join them
At the fair in Ķīpsala, Sardinians will talk about the diverse travel opportunities that the island offers. Those who love to spend an active time outdoors will find out about the best diving spots; nature lovers, about national nature parks, and the people curious about culture and history, about interesting cities and beautiful villages.
The Welcome to Sardinia travel agency will gladly help travellers discover this wonderful Mediterranean island, offering relaxation in resorts and exciting experiences for those who prefer active sports. Every guest of the island should also find out what Sardinian shepherd bread tastes like, about the cult of bluefin tuna, as well as other interesting facts about the island and its history. Meanwhile, the Quartu Sant’Elena tourism association will encourage travellers to find and see the island’s most beautiful natural spots.

At Balttour 2023 you’ll meet representatives of the Renata Travel agency, who will tell you about the breathtaking beauty of the Maddalena archipelago. A yacht, boat, or catamaran trip will offer views of the natural landscapes, mountains, beaches, and crystal-clear water: an unforgettable experience.

Of course, in Sardinia you cannot fail to enjoy the sea and its vastness, and taking part in the fair will be the Cala della Torre resort in the town of Siniscola, perched on the magical white sands of the Bay of Caletta with impeccably clear water, and just a few steps away from a quiet town centre with restaurants, ice cream cafes, artisan shops, and other features a town can offer.

Sardinia is the official travel destination of Balttour 2023
The opening ceremony launching the Sardinian exhibition will take place at 12:15 on 3 February, the first day of Balttour 2023, with participants such as the Minister of Tourism of Sardinia Giovanni Chessa, the head of Cagliari Airport Davide Crognaletti, and Roberto Meloni.
