At Kids Expo Riga 2026, the State Fire and Rescue Service (VUGD) will engage children and parents alike with fun, interactive activities that teach how to act correctly in various emergency situations—while also introducing children to the firefighter-rescuer profession.
Over two days, families will have the opportunity to explore VUGD’s areas of responsibility and gain a closer look at the daily work of firefighter-rescuers. Visitors can step inside a fire engine, see professional equipment up close, and learn what it takes to be a firefighter-rescuer.
Together with firefighter-rescuers, attendees will discover how much the equipment used in firefighting and rescue operations actually weighs and how it is used in real-life situations.
Guests will also be able to test their knowledge of safety topics: what to do in the event of a fire, when to call the emergency number 112, and how to stay safe while enjoying nature and water activities.
The youngest visitors will learn about safety in a friendly and playful way with the help of VUGD’s mascot, Guntiņš.
