RIGA FOOD 2025

September 6
15.00-16.00
Mini Seminar "High-Value and Sustainable Circular Solutions for the Food Processing Industry" (the mini seminar will be held in Latvian)
The food processing industry faces the challenge of combining competitiveness with sustainability. Within the framework of research, sustainable solutions for the food processing sector have been developed – from eco-friendly packaging to creating new products from by-products. It also demonstrates how by-products from dairy, berry, and beer production can be transformed into high-value ingredients and innovations that strengthen competitiveness, thus creating products that combine science, sustainability, and future opportunities in the food industry. The seminar is based on projects from the State Research Program "Exploration and Sustainable Use of Local Resources for the Development of Latvia" 2023–2025, project No. VPP-ZM-VRIIILA-2024/1-0002 "Scientifically Based Solutions for a Sustainable Food System to Achieve the Goals of the European Green Deal" (GreenAgroRes) and the project "Assessment of Bioactive Compounds in Fermented Dairy Products: A New Approach" (No. 5.2.1.1.i.0/2/24/I/CFLA/002, AF21), to demonstrate how science is transformed into sustainable solutions for the food industry.
