Latvia’s leading dance groups to present the best of folk dance in Jūrmala
Latvia’s leading folkdance groups “Dancis”, “Līgo”, “Liesma”, “Rotaļa” and “Teiksma” present a magnificent concert “The Best of Latvian Folkdance in Jūrmala” directed by Jānis Ērglis at Dzintari open-air concert hall on September 6 at 16.00.
"We are so varied and essentially different, so colourful and uniquely expressive, but our love for dance unites us all like pearls tied to a string," the artistic director of “Dancis” Rolands Juraševskis tells. "This concert is an opportunity for dancers to show what they have learned in the previous season and see what other groups are going to show. The concert programme features both well-known classic folkdance repertoire and newly choreographed works,” R. Juraševskis explains.
"This year marks the 10th anniversary of “The Best of Latvian Folkdance in Jūrmala”. Produced by BT 1 Music, this event has grown and become a stable value bringing together leading dance groups and giving a lot of joy and positive emotions to audience and dancers," the artistic director of “Teiksma” Jānis Ērglis tells adding that "all of these folkdance groups can be proud of experience accumulated by giving many concerts in Latvia and around the world and the love and fabulous feedback of the audience."
The concert features the works of such acclaimed Latvian choreographers as Imants Magone, Harijs Sūna, Uldis Žagata, Jānis Purviņš, Jānis Ērglis, Gints Baumanis, Jānis Marcinkevičs and Krišjānis Šimis.
Produced by BT 1 Music in collaboration with Jūrmala City Council and Dzintari Concert Hall.
