LEADING TRADE FAIR ORGANISER IN THE BALTIC STATES

Children’s dance group Teiksmiņa invites you to its 35th anniversary concert

On 7 June, children’s dance group Teiksmiņa (Tiny Tale) will mark its 35th birthday at the Ķīpsala Expo Centre with a heart-warming anniversary show “KOPĀ KOPĀ/UNITED TOGETHER". Almost 300 dancers of various ages will perform on stage together. Musical accompaniment for the merry dancers will come from Tarkšķi (Rattlers) folk band.

“Dance group is like a family. It is a UNIT. Like any other birthday, this anniversary will bring together the whole merry “Teiksma/Tale” family. We live at the time when helping shoulder and family support are indispensable. The feeling of being a UNIT, the comfort of knowing that TOGETHER we can do big things is vital. So, it is….UNITED TOGETHER,” Ilga Pulmane, the long-standing director of Teiksma, explains the name of the show and the idea behind its concept.

Folk band Tarkšķi from Iecava will provide the musical accompaniment for the first part of the performance, taking the stage together with the birthday child. Their inspiring feet-tapping melodies are a perfect fit for the multi-coloured Latvian folk dance. Meanwhile, the second part of the show will be more focused on the forthcoming XIII Latvian School Song and Dance Festival. By the way, Teiksmiņa performed astoundingly across all age groups during the festival recital and selection rounds.

Director Inga Pulmane has been faithful to Teiksmiņa for all of the past three-and-a-half decade dancing journey. She is actually one of the gang of Teiksma. So, it only made sense that she became responsible for the collective’s youth section. She has seen several generations of dancers grow up and join various age groups of Teiksma, as well as other leading dance groups in Latvia.

Production involves the youth collectives of Teiksma Studio, folk dance troupe Teiksma, adult dancers of Teiksma and members of DeTeiksma, as well as Tarkšķi folk band.
