Post-Quantum Cryptography: The Next Era of Digital Security
You are welcome to join an event organised by the the Estonian Business Hub at the Estonian Embassy in Riga and trust service provider SK ID Solutions, the developer of Smart-ID, in cooperation with Riga Comm, as part of the Riga Comm 2026 side events programme.
The event brings together entrepreneurs, technology leaders, developers, digital and cybersecurity experts, and others who believe that the post-quantum era will fundamentally change the digital services we build, use and rely on in our everyday lives.
The transition to post-quantum cryptography is no longer only a question about the future of quantum computing. With European transition roadmaps taking shape and organisations beginning to assess their cryptographic dependencies, the practical question is becoming increasingly relevant: how do we prepare today for a fundamental change in the way digital systems are secured?
We will join in the discussion with experts from Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania to focus on the practical realities of PQC migration. From cryptographic inventories and legacy systems to crypto-agility, vendor readiness and regulation. We will look at where the Baltic countries stand today, what we can learn from each other, and what businesses and technology providers should already be doing to prepare. After the discussion we invite you to join networking part of the event.
• Event time: 7 October 2026 | 17:30–21:00
• Event place: Estonian Embassy in Riga, Pils iela 8/10, Riga
• Event registration: https://kutsed.vm.ee/register/post-quantum
Speakers
Dan Bogdanov, PhD, Chief Scientific Officer, Cybernetica, Estonia
A member of the Estonian Academy of Sciences and one of Estonia’s leading cryptography experts, Dan Bogdanov works at the intersection of advanced cryptographic research and its implementation in real digital systems. His work includes post-quantum cryptography, privacy-preserving technologies and the development of cryptographic roadmaps for governments and industry.
Simona Zavackė, Researcher and PhD candidate, Vilnius University, Lithuania
Simona Zavackė focuses on the practical transition of existing IT infrastructure to post-quantum cryptography. Her recent research has tested PQC and hybrid cryptographic solutions in real-world SSH environments, bringing an important implementation perspective to the discussion on how organisations can move from PQC strategy to practice.
Jānis Džeriņš, Cybersecurity Expert, CERT.LV, Latvia
A cybersecurity expert with a strong technical background in computer science, system security and security research, Jānis Džeriņš brings the Latvian cybersecurity perspective to the discussion, including how organisations should assess emerging risks and prepare their existing infrastructure for long-term security.
Raul Eks, eID & Trust Services Expert, SK ID Solutions, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania
Raul Eks works with electronic identity and qualified trust services at SK ID Solutions, bringing the perspective of a technology provider whose services depend on cryptography at the core. He will contribute the practical trust-services perspective: what PQC migration means for digital identity, authentication, electronic signatures and the wider trust ecosystem.
