Baltic Beauty 2023 – another successful beauty festival

The biggest beauty and personal care industry festival and trade fair in the Baltics, Baltic Beauty 2023, successfully took place in November at the Ķīpsala International Expo Centre. 313 companies from 13 countries brought their newest beauty and personal care products, showcasing their novelties in two pavilions – the World of Beautiful Hair and the World of Beautiful Face and Body. Beauty festival at Ķīpsala Expo Centre attracted 28 325 visitors from 17 countries, including 14 137 professional visitors.

“We had three days of intense work, positive emotions and joy. We have received positive feedback from many visitors and participants, praising the trade show for magnificent display, wide variety of events and impressive visitor turnout. Trade fair is as lively as it had ever been,” Kristīne Čerņavska, Director of Baltic Beauty, says with a brimming smile.

Diverse professional events

This year’s Baltic Beauty 2023 offered four major conferences, more than 40 professional competitions and 11 master classes and workshops. Beauty and personal care professionals especially praised the workshops delivered by such well-known hair care manufacturers as Cutrin, Poll Michel, C.EHKO and Berrywel.

Exciting new competitions
Young and talented, as well as more experienced beauty care professionals, showcased their skills, agility and originality during beauty and personal care competitions for professionals. Competition for nail technicians returned to Ķīpsala Expo Centre after a three-year disruption with an unprecedented magnitude. Latvian Global Nail Cup 2023 organised by Tatjana Kivi (Estonia) attracted participants and judges from altogether 12 countries.

For the first time in Baltic Beauty history, trade fair also hosted an international barber’s competition Barber Battle Vol.1. Latvia, organised by Barber Battle competition organisers from the Czech Republic. “Czech organisers of this competition enjoyed the atmosphere and management of Baltic Beauty, and promised to bring European Championships to Latvia next year. So, if you are a barber, you should put Baltic Beauty 2024 in your calendar right now,” Irina Jevsejeva, Director of the World of Beautiful Hair, concludes.

Baltic Beauty 2023 also hosted the 29th edition of XXVI International Hairstyling Festival, a hair styling competition for professional and up and coming hair stylists from hair styling colleges of Latvia and other countries. Hair stylists competed for one of the 18 different skills competitions.

Image school and studio Unastyle brought three exciting competitions to the Baltic Beauty 2023 - Creative Make-up for unique and unconventional make-up, Full Fashion Look and Modern Bride team competition for trendy overall look for brides.

Dalila Beauty Cup 2023, a two-day eyelash extension competition organised by the International Association of Eyelash and Eyebrow Artists, was also a roaring success as event attracted very wide representation. It coincided with Master’s Alley, an annual competition particularly popular among spa professionals, organised by Latvian Spa & Wellness Federation together with SPA School training centre.

Fulfilling conferences

International and local experts shared their experience and take on current industry trends at four main conferences. These events, especially the conference organised by Latvian Association of Beauticians and Cosmetologists (LKKA), garnered huge professional interest. Due to maximum capacity, registration for these conferences actually closed well in advance of the exhibition. Expert speakers of LKKA conference “Good quality and safe cosmetic services” explored a number of different issues: legal status of beaty care service providers, glory and misery of invasive procedures according to plastic surgeons, impact of irregular massage techniques, and other current challenges.

During Baltic Beaty 2023, Latvian Medical Association (LMA) held a conference titled “Mineral metabolism and everyday use of mineral medicines”. Targeted at beauticians and cosmetologists, this conference provided an insight into newest trends and other useful information. While Dalila Beauty Conference, an event organised by Dalila Beauty School and International Association of Eyelash and Eyebrow Artists, provided participants with valuable insights into newest eyelash and eyebrow sculpting trends and personal brand promotion on social media.

Image school and studio Unastyle organised a conference and workshop “Podium shows: professional secrets” where stylists, hairdressers and make-up artists from Latvia, Finland and Germany shared their experience of ad-hoc teamwork and demonstrated how beautiful, show-themed and collection-specific stage images can be created, also touching upon other related issues.

Discussion on artificial beauty
This was the first time Baltic Beauty hosted a discussion on artificial beauty. This discussion attracted large visitor crowds. Discussion offered an exciting exchange between industry experts on their experience, offering valuable recommendations and answers to audience questions. Discussion was organised by Latvian Association of Beauticians and Cosmetologists.

Looking forward to seeing you at the next year’s Baltic Beauty 2024, the 19th Pan-Baltic Beauty Industry trade fair that will take place on 1-3 November 2024 at the Ķīpsala International Expo Centre in Riga.
