|“Skola 2018” awaiting the young and curious! The 24th International Education Fair "Skola 2018", 23?25 February, taking place at Kipsala International Exhibition Centre in Riga, will bring together thousands of young people willing to find out more about study programmes, professions and educational institutions. Adults, too, will find here useful information on various educational opportunities for themselves and their children in Latvia and abroad.
More than 140 educational institutions and related companies from Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Russia, the Netherlands and other European countries taking part in the exhibition will inform visitors about educational programmes, enrolment terms and conditions, state-funded study places, scholarships, exchange and placement opportunities, and a variety of extracurricular activities. The Tashkent State University of Law will represent Uzbekistan at “Skola” for the first time.
"There are almost all state and private universities of Latvia participating in "Skola 2018", therefore, this is a great opportunity for future students to meet the academic staff and students of universities based in Liepaja, Ventspils, Rezekne, Valmiera, Daugavpils and Riga, and find answers to all questions you may have. Those who want to study abroad will have an opportunity to put their questions to the representatives and consultants of foreign educational institutions," tells Valts Jirgensons, a director of the education fair.
The fair is attended by not only universities, but also colleges, technical colleges, high schools, training centres and companies operating in the education sector. The Riga Technical School of Tourism and Creative Industry will introduce various professions in hospitality, beauty care, catering and other fields, and will offer to try hands at one of them. Novikontas Maritime College will invite visitors to try out their skills of a seafarer on a simulator, but the Valmiera Technical School will offer not only information on how emerging mechatronic system technicians are being trained in robotics, robotic sensors, pneumatics and metalworking, but also give an opportunity to test technology used in the training process. Visitors will also get acquainted with the training opportunities at Bulduri Horticultural Secondary School and the Engineering High School of Riga Technical University.
The State Education Development Agency will provide information on opportunities offered by the European Union’s programme for education, training, youth and sport Erasmus+, and will introduce the representatives of vocational education institutions to the European Credit system for Vocational Education and Training (ECVET).
