See Europe’s best cats and dogs at Latvian Winner 2018!

On 9 and 10 June, Kipsala International Exhibition Centre will host the International Dog and Cat Show “Latvian Winner 2018”, where it will be possible to watch noble dogs and exquisite cats from the whole Europe competing for titles and prizes. An exhibition of goods for pets, dog tricks demonstrations, shows and even cat agility show will be held!

“The early summer show as always offers for both adults and kids many of things to see, including the cat agility show that will be truly exciting,” tells Vija Klučniece, a president of Latvian Felinology Association “Felimurs”.

Popular and rare dog breeds

1700 dogs – long-haired, short-haired, curly and wirehaired, miniature and large, hunting, working and decorative dogs from Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Russia, Belarus, Poland, Sweden and Norway – will compete for the title “Latvian Winner 2018” and the opportunity to take part in one of the world’s most prestigious dog shows “Crufts 2019”, Birmingham, the UK. A serious competition, by the way, is expected for the Chihuahuas; there will also be a broad participation from such breeds as the Labradors, Bernese Mountain Dogs, Shetland Sheepdogs, Basenji and French Bulldogs. Dog fanciers will also have an opportunity to see a number of rare and exotic dog breeds like the Uruguayan Cimarron (officially recognized as a breed last year), a couple of Japanese dog breeds – the Kai Ken and Shikoku Inu, the Istrian Short-haired Hound, the Korthals Griffon, the Barbet and the Yakutian Laika. The latter has not yet been fully recognised by FCI.

Alongside competitions in rings, four-legged participants will offer exciting shows demonstrating their wit and agility, circus acts, trick demonstrations and thrilling racing competitions.

Noble mousers
The cat show will certainly stir up passion as about 300 purebred mousers will also compete for the title “Latvian Winner 2018”. This title will be bestowed only to the best adult male and female cats of each breed! Although cats cannot boast of such a wide variety of breeds as dogs (there are only over 40 cat breeds in the world), more than 20 of them will be represented at Kipsala, including the British Shorthairs, lovely Maine Coons, fluffy Persians fluffy and elegant Burmese cats. Moreover, there will also be some rare breed represented like the exotic Bombay and Somali cats, and the blue-eyed Ragdolls.

All cat fanciers are welcome to watch kitten, junior, adult and spayed or neutered cat rings, and feast their eyes on the longhaired Scottish Folds and Straights, Siberian cats, and cats with bi-colour, dilute or white coat at specialised shows.

Cat agility
A cat agility show is an intrigue the organisers offer this year! Can you imagine the cat that walks by himself jumping over obstacles and taking part in a running race?! It is definitely a must-watch! Cat agility shows will take place on both event days.

Search for a pet
If you are looking for a pet, this will be the best place to get an insight into the variety of dog and cat breeds, and to talk to experts! However, notice that it is prohibited to sell puppies or kittens during this event.
