Latvian stage dancing/concert ‘Dance all young and old’
One of Latvia’s best dance groups, folk dance collective Teiksma (Tale) and children’s dance collective Teiksmiņa (Tiny tale), invites everyone to their grand performance ‘Dance all young and old’ on 25 May 18:00 at the Ķīpsala Expo Centre. Performance has been produced by Art Director and Choreographer Jānis Ērglis, the Director of folk dance collective Teiksma.
‘Dance all young and old’ is the title that carries a deeper meaning. One of the core values of Teiksma is family because the big dance collective “family” is comprised of numerous families or several generations of dancers from the same family. Children of dancers who joined dance group when they were young have grown up and become members of the main troupe, and still dance on the same stage with their parents. In addition to dancers, similar lineage can also be observed in the case of choreographers and coaches. Children of directors of Teiksma and Teiksmiņa have also grown up and are now working with young dancers. Some of the performance pieces have been choreographed by them.
‘Dance all young and old’ is a concert production that brings together well-known and loved dances choreographed by Jānis Ērglis and other choreographers. Programme will also contain new dances that have been choreographed and become popular in recent years, such as this year’s winners of the creative folk dance competitions. Grand performance will have several premiers as well from choreographers like Dāvis Ērglis, Berta Pulmane and other.
Production involves the youngest dancers of children’s dance collective Teiksmiņa, youth collectives of Teiksma Studio and folk dance troupe Teiksma, adult dancers of Teiksma and members of DeTeiksma. More than 300 dancers of different generations altogether.
The first solo performance of Teiksma was produced in 2005. Troupe has been giving its fans grand performances and lots of joy ever since, with its playful performances full of raw emotions, lyricism and technicality.
Concert production is supported by BT 1 Music.
