Habitus Baltija 2010 Ends in Triumph for Young Baltic DesignersIn all three categories of the 10th Competition for Young Fashion Designers “Habitus Baltija 2010”, the victory was adjudged to young designers from the Baltic States.
The Habitus Baltija 2010 GRAND PRIX and the winner’s laurels in the Avant Garde Fashion category went to Inga Taurina (Latvia) for her collection “IR-ON-LINE”. The young designer received a EUR 1000 money prize, moreover, she was granted an opportunity to open the Habitus Baltija 2011 gala show with her new collection next year. ![]() ‘“Habitus Baltija” is the major and the most important fashion design competition in Latvia,’ Inga Taurina tells. ‘It is a great opportunity for young fashion designers to demonstrate their skills and achievements, to compare their works with those of their peers and rivals, to draw inspiration and experience. This year, “Habitus Baltija” gathered young fashion designers from 11 countries, and this internationality gives to it a very especial importance,’ Inga explains. ![]() The winner in the Industrial Pret-A-Porter category was Peeter Rasta (Estonia) with his collection “Live Well”. Peeter Rasta received the certificate for participation in the fashion design competition “Ekzersis” in Moscow, Russia and travel costs paid by BT 1. ![]() Vilius Venckevicius, the author of the best Artistic Pret-A-Porter collection “Body Transformations” from Lithuania received the certificate for participation in the final of the prestigious IX International Young Designers Competition “Russkiy Siluet”, Moscow, Russia, and travel costs paid by BT 1. The winner of the Habitus Baltija 2010 School Competition was Vilnius Academy of Art. The Intertextil Balticum 2010 Organiser’s Favourite Prize was bestowed to Artis Stamguts (Latvia). He receives an opportunity to free participation in “Intertextil Balticum 2011” to present his new collections to a wider audience. Artis Stamguts also received the Special Prize from the Riga City Council and a gift voucher from Texrep Baltica where he will have an opportunity to buy materials for his next collections. The gift voucher was also presented to Tatiana Dorohova (Latvia). Diplomatic Economy Club bestowed the Special Prize to George Georgiou, a young fashion designer from Cyprus. The Special Prize from Coats Latvia was presented to Sanita Grebere (Latvia) and her collection “The Vital Past”. Chairman of the Habitus Baltija 2010 jury Konstantin Bogomolov, an image designer, fashion analyst, on turn, presented to three young designers Elina Rozkalne (Latvia), Yulia Gerasko (Ukraine) and Irina Bolshagina and Lilia Vilesova (Russia) an opportunity to attend seminars held by Bogomolov’ Image School free of charge. ![]() The “Habitus Baltija” competition has been taking place since 2001, and this year gathered 47 young fashion designers from 11 countries—Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Russia, Ukraine, Germany, Norway, Turkey, Cyprus, Poland and Slovenia. Along with competition shows, the seminars on fashion have been held with participation of the image designer and fashion analyst Konstantin Bogomolov (Latvia) and the stylist and headmaster of The Image Academy Natalie Svikle (Great Britain).
