From 7 to 10 May, the 5th International Exhibition for Transport, Transit and Logistics “Transport and Logistics 2009” organised by International Exhibition Company BT 1 in conjoint with the Road Carriers Association “Latvijas auto” and the Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Latvia will take place at Kipsala International Exhibition Centre, Riga, Latvia.

The business exhibition “Transport and Logistics” is a complex event dedicated to entrepreneurs engaged in transport and transit business, leading experts, governmental officials. The objective of the exhibition is to further the development of Latvian transport, transit and logistics sector and related businesses.

Variety of products and services for professionals
The exhibition “Transport and Logistics 2009” will offer information on international transport services, cargo and passenger haulage, ferry lines, road and sea freight forwarding to specialists of transport sector.

Participants will present new truck and commercial vehicle models from MAN, Renault, Mercedes-Benz, Ford, Scania, Iveco and DFM, high standard vans, trailers and semi-trailers for cargo haulage from such manufacturers as Feldbinder, Hanse Trailer Baltija, Euro Skandi Auto and TFC. Exhibitors will demonstrate Setra Evobus and Isuzubus comfort, safety and operation advantages so important for passenger haulage. Transport specialists and business people will have an opportunity to evaluate special equipment for commercial and communal vehicles, freight strapping equipment and Dhollandia, HIAB, Multilift, Oil&Steel hydraulic side and tail lift systems.

For efficient car fleet management, planning of itineraries, fuel economy and providing timely freight delivery, logistics companies and freight forwarders need modern transport management and freight movement control solutions. Latvian, Lithuanian, Estonian, Polish, Danish and German companies will present variety of solutions.

“Transport and Logistics 2009” will offer a large range of warehousing products and services – shelving, different systems and equipment, reloading machinery and equipment.

Discussion about solutions for the crisis situation
On 8 May, the International Road Carriers Association “Latvijas auto” will hold a seminar “Solutions for the crisis situation in the international road transportation”.

The seminar will focus issues regarding emergency situation in the sector of road transportation, development of the state support mechanism and accessibility of funding for further development of the road transport sector, topicalities in customs laws and regulations of Russia, situation in customs checkpoints, as well as the new Council Directive on VAT recovery effective as of 2010 and novelties on legislative changes regarding road transportation service in Europe.

Reports will be delivered by the officials representing the Ministry of Economics and Ministry of Transport, members of public organisations and experts.

Ministry of Transport will gather the largest state enterprises
The Ministry of Transport will take part in the exhibition gathering in its stand the largest state-owned enterprises – ports of Latvia, air and rail freight forwarders, transit enterprises.

Visitors will have an opportunity to learn about current projects of road and railway infrastructure improvement, inshore transport, navigation and services offered by Latvian ports, as well as the EU co-funding for the development of the sector.

DAKAR 2009 technical support vehicle to be displayed
AVAR AUTO SIA, a representative of the German Concern MAN Nutzfahrzeuge in Latvia, will bring to the exhibition an interesting exhibit – the MAN TGS 26.480 6x6 technical support vehicle that took part in 2009 Dakar Rally. The technical support was provided by two vehicles of this kind, each capable to carry 10 tons of different automotive tools and spare parts.

“Transport and Logistics 2009” occurs simultaneously with the specialised exhibition for automotive repair tools, service station equipment, automotive parts, care means and accessories “Automechanics 2009. Parallel event held in the Hall II of Kipsala International Exhibition Centre – the 10th Riga International Motor Show.
