The best Latvian apprentice chefs will compete in Ķīpsala!The young chefs from Latvia will gather in Ķīpsala on 7 September, to compete in the art of cooking in the Riga Food 2017 exhibition and win the title of the Best Latvian Apprentice Chef 2017.
Both qualified and chefs in training can participate in the apprentice chefs contest. The condition is - at the moment of submitting the application, the apprentice chef may not be older than 23 years.
By participating in the contest, the young chefs have an opportunity to improve their professional skills, gain confidence on their mastership, meet other colleagues, and attract future employers.
Without doubt, the main benefit of the contestants, is experience and acknowledging their strengths. The contest is discovering new talents every year, who have put in a lot of effort to achieve high results, which are also recognised by an international jury says the Chairman of the Board of the association Chefs club, Raimonds Zommers.
The apprentice chefs are invited to apply!
To apply for the contest The Best Latvian Apprentice Chef 2017, the participants must submit a filled application form and a home assignment until 1 August - a recipe for a cold appetiser containing a whole quail and quail eggs, and a recipe for a vegetarian main dish containing fennel, parsnip and fresh chanterelles. The application for the contest must be sent to: firstname.lastname@example.org with a subject Pavārzeļļu konkursam.
The finalists will compete in Ķīpsala
The eight finalists of the contest will be determined by a jury of the best local chef masters and experts, by evaluating the anonymous home tasks. Eight best apprentice chefs will will be invited to the final and on 7 September in Ķīpsala, Riga Food 2017 exhibition, they will cook their own recipes and compete for the title of the Best Latvian Apprentice Chef 2017.
International jury and valuable prizes
The creations of the young chefs will be evaluated by qualified Latvian and foreign jury members who have a big experience in evaluating contests, according to the following criteria - food design, taste and product compatibility, technical skills and organization of work.
The top three finalists will receive medals, certificates and prizes from sponsors and supporters. But the winner of the best apprentice chefs contest will not only receive the title of the Best Latvian Apprentice Chef 2017, but also a 300 euro cash prize.
The Best Latvian Apprentice Chef 2016
Last year the title of the Best Latvian Apprentice Chef 2017 and a golden medal in the exhibition was awarded to Arta Pērkona from VSIA Rīgas Tūrisma un radošās industrijas tehnikums, second place and silver medal was awarded to Artūrs Bilzens from Kaļķu vārti restaurant, and 3rd place to Dans Ivanovs from the Ribs & Rock restaurant.

The competition is organised by the association Chefs club in cooperation with the International Exhibition Company BT 1.
The international trade fair for food, beverages, food processing, technologies, packaging, public catering, horeca and shop equipment and services Riga Food 2017 will take place from 6 to 9 September in the Ķīpsala International Exhibition Centre.
