Riga Food 2009 Media Feedback

“Riga Food is a significant event promoting the food industry annually gathering food industry specialists from all over the world to promote their business, to get insight into topicalities of the food and beverage manufacturing and processing sectors, to get information about the latest technologies and equipment, new packaging solutions, HoReCa novelties, as well as to take part in the food industry business forum and professional competitions.”
(NRA, 07.09.2009)

“Riga Food is an annual show of the food industry development in general; it highlights novelties and gives an opportunity to meet serious and reliable food industry enterprises. The exhibition gathers food industry enterprises, governmental and public organisations, and professional industry associations actively engaged in food manufacturing.”
(NRA supplement “Mâja”, 8–14.09.2009)

“Riga Food has always been a mirror of Latvian food stores. Products displayed at Riga Food often appeared on the shelves of groceries after the exhibition. Ten years ago, the exhibition attracted more Latvian major manufacturers whose products nowadays form an integral part of the assortment of grocery stores. Perhaps it is the reason why they do not advertise themselves at the exhibition anymore and why the toughest competition takes place on the shelves of grocery stores. The exhibition Riga Food is a reflection of what happens in the food industry and stores.
(Inguna Gulbe, Director of the Agriculture Market and Promotion Centre, (NRA, 09.09.2009)

“Riga Food is, first of all, a place where foreign participants and local audience can see Latvia-made goods. There is much to see and taste.”
(Latvijas Avîze, 10.09.2009)

“I am most pleased with the opportunity to explore a variety of ways for innovation in food production cycle… that Riga Food 2009 gives to the visitors. The competitiveness and development of the food industry is not imaginable without innovation, because it is the only way to be competitive on the global market. I would also like to point at the international scale of Riga Food 2009 and the large number of participants––it is a positive signal in these economically difficult times.
(Valdis Dombrovskis, Prime Minister of Latvia. Latvijas Vçstnesis, 10.09.2009, “Opening the international exhibition Riga Food 2009.)

“Participation in the exhibition like this is expedient only if you have new products to offer––otherwise there is no sense to do it because the local market is too small and everyone knows everyone.”
(Kaspars Çvelis, SIA Multi-branch Company “Daugava” (Diena, 03.02.2009))

“In exhibitions like this we establish contacts since 91% of our products go for export...” (Arnolds Babris, Managing Director, Brîvais vilnis (Diena, 03.02.2009)

“Riga Food 2009 gathered fewer participants in comparison with the year past; for all that it presented attention-grabbing innovations.” (Subbota, 16.09.2009)

“Participation of small and medium sized enterprises at the 14th international food industry trade fair Riga Food are being financially promoted because the exhibition is a valuable marketing tool used by well-known and financially capable Latvian and foreign enterprises as well as by small and recently established companies to consolidate their market position.”
(Saldus Zeme, 06.06.2009)

“Riga Food is a significant food industry event providing insight into topicalities of the food and beverage manufacturing, the latest technologies and novelties in the HoReCa field.”
(Saldus Zeme, 08.09.2009)

“The food industry trade fair Riga Food 2009 put novelties and ideas in the limelight. Priekuli Plant Breeding Institute presented for tasting gourmet cereals made of rye, barley and triticale grains topped with yoghurts of the cooperative dairy farm Straupe. Essentially, that state granted financial support to Latvian companies thus reducing participation costs.”
(Druva, 11.09.2009)

“You cannot buy such high appreciation! Satisfaction is even greater in the knowledge that the quality of our bread was approved by experts.” (Normunds and Lâsma Bomji, Lielezeres Bakery (Auseklis, 12.09.2009, “Bomju classic rye bread earns five Gold Diplomas”.)

“Participation in Riga Food is the indicator of company’s viability and progress.”
(Bauskas Dzîve, 09.09.2009)
