The Riga Food exhibition strongly highlights food industry innovation yearly gathering innovation related organisations and their members to give an insight into the full process of product development.  In the course of years, the exhibition has acquired a certain target audience––businesses, public authorities, industry associations from all over the world––and has been capturing the interest of the foreign food industry professionals. Taking into account the annual increase in the number of visitors, as well as the number of international companies and institutions represented, Riga Food has proved itself as a high-level exhibition.

 This exhibition is a good example of that that it is possible to work with growing profits and turnover rates, to maintain and expand the number of jobs also during a crisis. At the same time the crisis opens up new opportunities. I am most pleased with the opportunity to explore a variety of ways for innovation in food production cycle offered by Latvian Technological Center that Riga Food 2009 gives to the visitors. I would also like to point at its international scale and the large number of participants.  The exhibition “Riga Food” has gradually become a presentation of our manufacturers to a wider public, a fair in which the newest and best production is displayed, a place to meet in order to exchange ideas and look for partners.  Riga has always been a hospitable city, therefore, inhabitants of Riga have always loved to have delicious dishes and feast their guests. Thus, the annual exhibition “Riga Food” has honourable historical roots and it is a pleasure that participants of this event have always been not only brisk eaters, but also quick in starting and maintaining business relationships. One does not have to speak much about the good qualities of Latvian food neither here in Latvia, nor abroad. And it is also the credit of “Riga Food.” Therefore, I agree with those who invite everyone to attend the exhibition and enjoy the offered delicacies.

 Riga Food has always been a mirror of Latvian food stores. Products displayed at Riga Food often appeared on the shelves of groceries after the exhibition. Ten years ago, the exhibition attracted more Latvian major manufacturers whose products nowadays form an integral part of the assortment of grocery stores. Perhaps it is the reason why they do not advertise themselves at the exhibition anymore and why the toughest competition takes place on the shelves of grocery stores. The exhibition Riga Food is a reflection of what happens in the food industry and stores.
