Already this week Auto 2020 Special Edition!

25-27 September a special edition of the international motor show Auto 2020 will take place at Ķīpsala International Exhibition Centre. Meanwhile, the participants are getting ready for setting up their exhibition stands, and more and more of them are revealing their cards - news and surprises for the visitors of Auto 2020 Special Edition.
Electrification is the future of mobility. Even the most hardened sceptics no longer deny this. The most noteworthy exhibit in the exposure of the latest Audi models will be the e-tron electric vehicle. It i’s a relatively large SUV that competes on the market with the world’s most popular Tesla Model X. This premium segment electric Audi e-tron is equipped with a 402 horsepower electric motor enabling the electric vehicle to accelerate from zero to 100 km/h within 5.7 seconds and to reach 200 km/h. Moreover, this massive electric vehicle can get a Tesla-worthy 400 kilometres range without recharging its 95 kWh batteries.

The complete opposite of the huge Audi e-tron is the small Zojaz electric car. This two-seater weighs less than 500 kilograms and can reach speeds of up to 80 km/h, which is enough for urban and suburban traffic. There are only two such electric cars in Latvia, but in Europe they are especially in demand in Great Britain, Germany and Poland. It can go up to 150 kilometres on a charge. An electric car like this costs more than five times less than the Audi e-tron.

However, the easiest, most efficient and the cheapest way to get to know the advantages of electric drive, and rapid acceleration in particular, is to go by electric go-kart. Blue Shock Race, a local company that develops, manufactures and offers electric go-karts for rent, will present the news in this area.

As every year, the car dealer Autobrava will show off the latest models of different car brands, for instance, the new SEAT Leon, which is a relative of the eighth generation of the Volkswagen Golf, the roomy SEAT Tarraco, the modernised Hyundai Kona crossover, the Fiat Tipo, which is one of the most pragmatic choices on the car market, as well as the new Suzuki Vitara SUV, while the Fiat Ducato will be represented in the new version with a CNG (natural gas) engine. The latest models from different car brands will be on display in the stand of WhatCar.lv, a Latvian car buyers’ guide, where the winners in the prestigious British edition "Car of the Year 2020" nominations will be presented.

The RE Autoclub racing team in ’’ScanPanelis’’ stand going to show the Ford Raptor pickup truck, which has been tested and specially adapted for off-road racing, as well as the Sisu Polar rally vehicle boasting a body more impressive than that of the Burlak all-terrain vehicle presented in the Ķīpsala International Exhibition Centre a couple of years ago. The Mercedes-Benz Atego truck with an insulated body will be the third vehicle from the RE Autoclub

The greatest interest will definitely be attracted by unique, unusual and original rebuilds. Auto 2020 Special Edition will hold the Auto Exotica Award 2020 in a total of 11 nominations ? From the most beautiful classic and restored cars to the most interesting self-built and tuned cars. Among those entered in the competition there will be the Zaporozhets lowrider, the first widebody style Subaru Impreza WRX Prodrive project in the Baltics, the Mad Max style Chevrolet Corvette, the classic VW Beetle lowrider, as well as many other amazing cars.

In addition, the CC Nation movement, which has gained widespread popularity among auto enthusiasts with events organised during the summer season, will join the Auto 2020 Special Edition. The most original vehicles of this association will take up an exhibition space of 300 square metres.

The Auto 2020 Special Edition is a family-friendly event offering various competitions and activities for children, for instance, try out a virtual reality racing simulator offered by VR Gaming Latvia. There will also be an opportunity to watch professional cycling shows – bike trial, BMX Freestyle and BMX Flatland. Car owners, on their turn, will have an opportunity to meet professional advisers in different areas of car repair and maintenance in the Auto Mechanics 2020 section, as well as purchase accessories for their vehicle or tools for their garage.

In order to make the exhibition as safe as possible for participants and visitors, the International Exhibition Company BT 1 has introduced a number of safety measures - separated entrances and exits, controlled number of visitors, increased disinfection of the premises, etc. Learn more about epidemiological safety measures.
