Olympic Champion Maris Strombergs at “Atpûta un sports 2009”Happy news for all BMX fans – the BMX world and Olympic champion Maris Strombergs will take part in the exhibition “Atpûta un sports 2009”. On 27 March at 14.00 in the Latvija BMX stand Maris Strombergs photo and autograph session will take place, but later on he will answer the questions of audience. Along with Maris Strombergs, his fellow BMX rider Kristaps Konrads and his trainer Ivo Lakucs, who have returned for a short while from the USA where they take part in the National Bike League (NBL) and American Bicycle Association (ABA) championships, will be present at the exhibition After the photo and autograph session, Maris Strombergs and other merited BMX riders will willingly answer the questions of the audience, tell about BMX and opportunities to go in for it. Maris Strombergs will be present in the Latvia BMX stand on Saturday, too, as of 12 o’clock. The BMX stand will present videos, sportsmen’s equipment and, of course, the bicycles, including the lucky one on which Maris Strombergs landed the Olympic gold.  During the exhibition, children and young people will have an opportunity to try their skills in riding BMX bikes and compete on a short and moderate obstacle course. BMX (Bicycle Motocross) is a kind of cycling competition held following the principles of motocross – several sportsmen take off simultaneously and ride over a course with obstacles and sharp turns. To promote BMX, its development, organisation of quality events in Latvia, as well as to call audience’s attention to the best BMX riders, Maris Strombergs founded an agency in late 2008. The Exhibition for Active Recreation and Sports “Atpûta un Sports 2009”, the Exhibition of Motorcycles and Bikers Outfit “Motocikls 2009” as well as the Exhibition of Boats and Yachts “Baltic Boat Show 2009” will take place from 26 to 29 March in Kipsala.
