Latvian Book Fair 2020 is rapidly approaching! Latvian Book Fair 2020 is already on its way to readers. From 28 February to 1 March the fair in Ķīpsala will offer an opportunity to meet prominent authors both from Latvia and abroad, enjoy readings by the authors, participate in book launches, find out the latest developments, participate in creative workshops, as well as swap and purchase books at significant discounts.
The Latvian Book Fair is the most important event of the book publishing industry, gathering publishers, authors, booksellers, potential publishers, librarians and readers together in Riga. A wide variety of books is offered by both Latvian publishers and publishers from abroad.
Latvian Book Fair 2020 is going to be attended by nearly every major Latvian book publisher: Zvaigzne ABC, Jānis Roze, Jumava, Pētergailis, Latvijas grāmata, Latvijas mediji, Kontinents, Madris, RaKa, Avots, MicRec, Mansards, Neputns, Dienas grāmata, Liels un mazs and others.
“Reading to the mind is like exercise to the body. It improves concentration and writing skills, memory and analytical skills, increases vocabulary and even reduces stress. Moreover, reading books allows you to travel the whole world. This is why I invite everyone to the Latvian Book Fair, where the latest books will be on display and available for purchase, taking both adult and children readers on a breathtaking journey!” says Sanita Blomniece, manager of the Latvian Book Fair. Extensive culture programme
Latvian Book Fair 2020 offers an extensive and comprehensive culture programme – over the three-day period at least 100 culture events will take place, along with more than 130 authors visiting Ķīpsala. The Grand Stage will feature authors’ readings and offer a chance to participate in book launches, and in the cosy Writer’s Lounge the visitors will be able to talk to the authors. The Uzvediba.lv workshops, on the other hand, are going to hold discussions on the causes of behavioural problems of both children and adults, as well as on how to use games in order to predict, reduce and prevent problematic behaviour at home, in an educational institution or at a workplace. Books and events for children
Nearly all the major Latvian publishers are going to present their latest children’s books. And, of course, we have prepared an exciting programme for our youngest visitors! The Fun Reading Room will have both children’s authors and book characters as guests, and there the visitors will be able to play developmental games, experiment, participate in exciting competitions and fun quizzes, as well as other creative activities. Experience the fun and joy! Swap books!
Continuing the popular tradition from previous years, the Book Exchange Point is going to operate throughout the three days of the fair in Ķīpsala. Everyone is invited to the fair, and to take along their books that have been read and re-read multiple times and are no longer needed, to swap them with unread ones. You will find picture and fairy tale books for children, as well as reference literature, books on art and a variety of other publications. Come and find the book that is right for you!
