Become Latvia's Best Sleeper!

Love sleeping late in the holiday mornings? You are a drowsyhead – the last to get up? Do you agree that a man, who has no worries, sleeps like a baby? Then this is your chance to prove that you’re a great sleeper as the 1st Latvian Sleeping Championship takes place from 6–8 October at the “Baltic Furniture 2017” fair. Come and join!

The goal of the Sleep Championship is to draw people’s attention to the sufficient amount and quality of sleep. Several studies carried out in Latvia show that the majority of people devote insufficient time to sleep, although it significantly affects person’s well-being, mood and health.

"It’s easier for a person to do with a smaller amount of food than an insufficient sleep time, because even small amounts of sleep deprivation quickly result in reduced productivity, reaction, cognitive capacity and memory, but in the long run – also create health problems. Sleep is extremely important. Moreover, our everyday life is affecting the way we sleep. Chaos and stress in your life take a toll on the quality of your sleep. If you organize your everyday life, the quality of your sleep and your health will improve,” tells Juris Svaža, a head of Sleep Laboratory at Rīga Stradiņš University’s Institute of Dentistry.

Dr Svaža points out that the average adult needs around 7-7.5 hours of sleep a night, while the amount of sleep a child needs varies with age. Both children and adults are welcome to fight for the title of a best sleeper during the Sleep Championship!

Sleeping young and old!
The championship will be held in two categories: 1) children under the age of 12 and 2) children from 13 years of age and adults.

Rules are the same for everyone: lie flat on your back so that there are several contact points – head, shoulders, palms, buttocks and heels. The clock will be started as soon as the contact position is taken and will be stopped when it is lost. Sounds simple, right?

Winners in both categories will get the title of Latvia’s first sleeping champion and prizes from the "Ossov" mattress shop – gift cards worth EUR 250 and EUR 450 to buy a mattress. Surprises for the best sleepers in both age groups every day guaranteed!

Get up, head to Kipsala, prove that you are more than a great sleeper – win the Champion’s title!

The 1st Latvian Sleep Championship is held by the International Exhibition Company BT 1 in collaboration with the "Ossov" mattress shop. Rules for participation, find here.
