LEADING TRADE FAIR ORGANISER IN THE BALTIC STATES

Best young fashion designers meet at Habitus Baltija 2016!

A creative mind has no limit! You can find inspiration in the simplest of everyday items to create original and unusual fashion collections. Make sure of it watching young designer shows at “Habitus Baltija 2016” on April 8 at Kipsala International Exhibition Centre.

"Habitus Baltija 2016" will present 31 collections by 33 young fashion designers from 9 countries – Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, Poland, Turkey and Sweden. The fashion designer competition final this year has a big representation from Lithuania – 9 finalists. One of the reasons – successful participation of Liucija Kvasyte, a student of the Vilnius Academy of Arts, in “Habitus Baltija 2015”. Her experimental collection “Trip. ’83 - ’13” won the Habitus Baltija Grand Prix last year.

At the competition semi-final the jury evaluated 52 fashion collections. The board of pre-selection judges included professional fashion designers – Indra Salcēviča, a fashion designer and creator of the "Red Salt" and "Black Salt" labels, Indra Miklāva, a fashion designer, Dace Krieviņa-Bahmane, a fashion designer and creator of the "DACE BAHMANN" label, Elīza Ceske-Feldmane, a co-owner of the boutique "Paviljons".

"There are good and very good collections, but above all stand those unveiling artist’s individuality. Collections offering this personal viewpoint, rather than those keeping up with the current fashion trends were chosen for the competition final. The collections of finalists show a witty attitude and attitude as such – combination of colours or materials, prints, laconic solutions with interesting details," Artis Štamgūts, the Associate Professor of the Art Academy of Latvia, fashion designer and creator of the "It’s Me" and "STATUS BY SHTAMGUTS" labels and the Creative Director of “Habitus Baltija 2016”, describes the competition entries.

The project manager of “Habitus Baltija” Sanita Blomniece adds: "We invite everyone interested in fashion and unusual ideas to Kipsala International Exhibition Centre to watch competition shows and see that creative mind has no limits! Moreover, there are lots of prize-worthy collections, so the competition for the best designer title will be tough and exciting."

The best fashion school to be determined!
Young fashion designers will not only present their collections, but also represent their educational institutions. This year, the contenders for the best school title are the Art Academy of Latvia (Latvia), Riga Technical University (Latvia), Vilnius Academy of Arts (Lithuania), University of Applied Sciences "Vilniaus kolegija" (Lithuania), Estonian Academy of Arts (Estonia), Krakow School of Art and Fashion Design (Poland), International Costume and Fashion Design School (Poland) and the Mimar Sinan University of Fine Arts (Turkey).
