Registration for the young fashion designers competition "Habitus Baltija 2016" is open!

The 16th International Competition for Young Fashion Designers "Habitus Baltija 2016" to be held on 8 April 2016 invites young fashion designers from Europe and CIS countries to apply for participation in one of the most important fashion events in the Baltic States.


"Habitus Baltija" is aimed to discover new talents, support young fashion designers and give them an opportunity to enrich their experience through the exchange of ideas and knowledge among young and experienced fashion designers, industry professionals, fashion colleges and entrepreneurs.

"We celebrated the 15th anniversary of competition and every anniversary is the best time to assess the achievements and set up new goals to reach. The competition has evolved over the years professionally and expanded in terms of geographical coverage, but now we will work to reach a higher artistic value. This time, we are going to hold a pre-selection round, so only best of the best will take part in the competition final," Sanita Blomniece, the project manager, explained changes in the competition procedure.

Apply to participate!
Registration for the “Habitus Baltija 2016” pre-selection round is open through 12 January 2016. Young fashion designers are invited to register their men-, womenswear or mixed collections created in the period beginning on and after 1 January 2015. Competition is open for individual participants and fashion schools – art and design colleges – which may nominate their candidates. Each fashion school can nominate up to five representatives.

Collections entered into the pre-selection round will be judged by the fashion industry professionals and only 30 best collections will be admitted to the competition final. Priority will be given to the collections suggesting conceptual and artistic ideas, originality of the design, high quality performance, expressive colour and material composition, innovative cuts and fabric processing technology. The finalists of "Habitus Baltija 2016" will be announced on 1 February 2016.

30 best collections in the competition final!
International Competition for Young Fashion Designers "Habitus Baltija 2016" will be held on 8 April 2016 at Kipsala International Exhibition Centre where 30 finalists will contend the title of best designer and other valuable prizes. As in previous years, the best fashion and design schools will contend the Grand Prix; however, only schools with at least 2 representatives from the respective school participating in the competition final participate in the school assessment. The winners will be determined by an international panel of judges – fashion designers, clothing technicians, fashion editors and fashion academics. The "Habitus Baltija" Competition is held by the International Exhibition Company BT 1 in cooperation with the Art Academy of Latvia.

Facts!
The Competition for Young Fashion Designers "Habitus Baltija 2015" presented 44 collections created by 46 fashion designers from Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Finland, Poland, Croatia, Russia, Turkey and Belarus.
