It is the 10th Year Already, When the Environment and Energy Fair 2014 Invites to Manage Smart and Live Green

Beneficial heating and lighting solutions: heat engineering, use of green energy and energy efficiency, environmentally-friendly electrical transport and technologies, biological wastewater treatment plants … - all this and much more, you will get to know from 18 till 19 October in Ķīpsala, where the Environment and Energy Fair 2014 will be held. This year is the 10th anniversary of the fair!

The Project Manager of the Environment and Energy Fair 2014 Gints Šāvējs accentuates that over a period of 10 years the fair has become one of the largest events in the Baltic states in the field of energy efficiency, infrastructure and environmental technologies. Gints Šāvējs points out: “The fair is a very important transaction and information exchange platform in the Baltic region. The abundant number of participating companies and visitors, which has doubled over the years, acknowledges the necessity for and meaning of the fair.”

This year 111 companies and organisations from Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Austria, Belarus, Belgium, Canada, Poland, Finland, Germany, Sweden and other countries are taking part in the exhibition.

Find out how to conveniently and economically manage your public utility payments!

This year’s special accent is on innovations – new hydrogen technologies and devices for combined heat and power plants and the manufacture of methane (combustible gas), by means of water and CO2 gas. These also include smart energy networks and energy meters with distant data reading possibilities.

Residents are more inclined to planning and calculating how to use electricity more economically and smartly, how to reduce public utility payments and how to settle them more conveniently. This is where smart meters and telemetrics help – devices, which help to conveniently control and manage your public utility costs, actual consumption, and thus give the possibility to make savings. These smart devices will be introduced to you at our fair by our leading companies –AS “Sadales tīkls”, AS ”Rīgas siltums” and SIA “Lattelecom”.

See the environmentally-friendly vehicles at work!

By taking care for environmental sustainability, environmentally-friendly transport is more and more often met in our everyday lives. There will be an interesting show of environmentally-friendly vehicles presented in the exhibition – the prototype of an electrical vehicle created by the Latvian company “LGV Bikes” with the intriguing name “Sienāzis” (Grasshopper), combining the features of a mountain bike and cross motorcycle, as well as the possibility to test drive the “Blue Shock Bike” electrical bicycles created in Latvia and several electrical bicycles manufactured by the cooperation partner of “LGV Bikes” – the French company “Moustache Bikes”. Some of the latter ones are equipped with partially integrated baggage compartments, the famous Moustache steering wheel, “BOSCH” manufactured engine and accumulator, as well as 45 km/h Performance Speed system. Visitors will also have the possibility to see electrical vehicles on site and get to know a lot about them, inter alia, the new Volkswagen E-up!

The charging station produced by the Latvian company “Green Science” will also be demonstrated in the exhibition, which is capable of ensuring simultaneous alternate current charging of two electrical vehicles at a slow or moderately fast charging mode in compliance with Mode 3 standard safety requirements.

Seminars for professionals and interested persons

For interested persons and specialists to be up to date and well-informed about the topicalities and novelties in the industry, the shows of the exhibition will be supplemented by a versatile seminar programme regarding topical energy efficiency and sustainable electricity issues, as well as other themes topical for the industry.

On 16 October interested persons are welcome to attend the seminar “Possibilities for the Development of Sustainable Electricity in Latvia”, organised by Eco-Energy Coalition Partner Organisations in Latvia – Latvian Nature Foundation, Latvian Green Movement and the Association “Zaļā brīvība”(Green Freedom). On Thursday a seminar organised by SIA ”Granit Salamandra Baltic” will also be held - “Aerosol fire-fighting – efficient, environmentally-friendly fire safety solution”.

During energy day, on 17 October Ķīpsala will host an international seminar “Innovative Solutions and Smart Technologies for Sustainable and Safe Energy”, organised by Riga Energy Agency. Representatives of Latvian and foreign municipalities, companies and industry experts will share experience regarding the contribution of energy efficiency to the safety of power supply and regional solutions for power supply, as well as new hydrogen technologies, smart power networks and other topical issues.

On 16, 17 and 18 October at the stand of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Regional Development (the MoEPRD), starting from 11.00 o’clock and for the whole day, there will be interactive activities taking place regarding the theme “Possibilities for Low Capacity Carbon Development”. The MoEPRD will inform about the possibilities of low capacity carbon development for municipalities and business persons, as well as what each resident can do to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and adapt to climate change. Interested persons will be able to get to know topical information regarding the available financing for the implementation of greenhouse gas emissions reduction projects, as well as to review what has been done up to now.
