Auto 2014 shows growing interest in new vehicles

International Motor Show Auto 2014, 11-13 April at Kipsala International Exhibition Centre, have concluded with overall attendance of 34,695 visitors.

The Latvian economy is recovering and the people’s ability to pay and interest in new cars is growing as witnessed the dynamics of the motor show attendance. The Riga International Motor Show attendance this year was up 9% on visitor number last year.

Auto 2014 presented 184 companies and representatives from nine European countries - Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Russia, Poland, Germany, Finland, Sweden and Belarus.

Riga International Motor Show traditionally includes four thematic sections - Auto, an exhibition of brand new cars and SUVs, Transport Engineering, an exhibition for commercial vehicles, industrial machines and logistics equipment, Auto Mechanics, an exhibition for garage equipment, automotive repair tools and car accessories, and Auto Exotica, the Eastern Europe's biggest tuning show.

Auto 2014 offered a number of Latvian premieres, e.g., the new generation Jeep Cherokee SUV, the SEAT Leon ST wagon, the new generation of the sporty MINI Cooper S hatchback, as well as a number of special versions of various well-known models. However, show’s special star was the Maserati Ghibli that on the first event’s day was presented in the Latvian Car of the Year stand as an applicant for the 2015 Car of the Year title.

The 1011hp Dodge Challenger, a rebuilt version of American muscle car, was an undoubtable star of Auto Exotica attracting the attention of most visitors. Engineering enthusiasts enjoyed the Nissan Juke R with the powerful 800 hp GT -R supercar engine and chassis. It should be mentioned, that Auto Exotica this year presented more tuned cars from abroad than in previous years.

Last year the International Motor Show Auto 2013 gathered 31,977 visitors in three days that was 10 % jump over the previous year.
