LEADING TRADE FAIR ORGANISER IN THE BALTIC STATES

Tech Industry 2023 fair to reward top novel student projects with stunning cash prizes

The largest metalworking and mechanical engineering fair in the Baltics, Tech Industry 2023, will take place in Ķīpsala on 30 November, hosting the final event of the Transport and Telecommunication Institute’s iDEAHUB business incubator, with 13 youth teams presenting their innovative start-up project ideas. The top three student teams will share a prize fund of 8000 euros!

‘As part of the iDEAHUB project, students try to find practical solutions to technical problems and to discover their business potential, which makes a big difference when it comes to the motivation, meaningfulness, and applicability of their learning,’ said the head of iDEAHUB, Jānis Volberts.

The iDEAHUB project, intended for young people to create innovative solutions to current social, environmental, or business problems, takes place as part of the European Regional Development Fund project ‘Transport and Telecommunication Institute iDEAHUB innovation grants for students (No. 1.1.1.3/21/A/006) and focuses on modern approaches to education and on supporting inspiring ideas among the youth.

‘As we involve young people in the pursuit of innovation, we create a value chain, making it possible for students to gain a deeper understanding of modern challenges and problems, to find solutions in collaboration with the industry and experts, and of course to create products that improve the quality of life in society,’ commented Vladimirs Petrovs, head of the Research Administration Division at the Transport and Telecommunication Institute.

The Transport and Telecommunication Institute invites everyone to come to the presentations of iDEAHUB projects, which will take place at Tech Industry 2023: Conference Room 3, from 11:00 to 13:00 on 30 November.

Guests will find out about:

The best innovative projects will receive awards immediately after the opening ceremony of Tech Industry 2023, which will take place in Hall 2, at 13:30 on 30 November. The top three teams will win impressive cash prizes of 5000, 3000, and 1000 euros.

‘I think that the idea of iDEAHUB is a great way for young people to take their first steps in science and innovation to get hands-on experience in how to implement a project. To test their abilities, to face real-life challenges, and to gain experience in a safe environment with relatively minimal risks, so that they make fewer mistakes in the future when working on larger projects with higher investments and risks. This is a fantastic environment to do work. I wish good luck to all the participants,’ said Reinis Točelovskis, founder and partner of 3Dskenesana.lv and member of the iDEAHUB jury.

The event is organised by the Transport and Telecommunication Institute (TCI) in conjunction with the Latvian Technology Centre and the Enterprise Europe Network in Latvia.
